Old Marvel Pitch

This is page two from a set of six pages I was going to pitch to Marvel Comics Presents line but I got a little busy and I've pretty much scratched my vampire itch with Blood Hunter at this point.

I went real experimental on this group of pages with some high contrast digital inks as well as working at a smaller size. I felt the results were so/so but this method drastically cut down on the time it normally takes me to do a page, so much so that I would feel comfortable getting 2-3 pages completed daily in this fashion. Blood Hunter is getting a much more "painterly" rendered treatment than this, but I might play with this style again on a personal project sometime in the future.

Iowa Mini-Con and sketchbook pages

The Iowa Mini-Con was last Sunday. It was a smaller show, but I had a really good time and met some really great people. I did more sketches at this con than I've ever done at a con previously, which was flattering, but I'd much rather spend my time talking to people and harassing other creators.

Here are some pages from the sketchbook I quickly threw together before the con.

Blood Hunter character sketches

You can expect to see these guys in upcoming installments of Blood Hunter. I skipped the inks on this page to save time but I kind of liked the effect that I got so I may incorporate this style in some flash-back sequences.

Experimental and misc. panels

Just some experimental pieces some are all digital, one photo manip, and a couple of miscellaneous panels.

I'm going to try an update this blog at least weekly and I could really use some suggestions for content, so let me know what you want to see!

Blood Hunter wins ZUDA COMPETITION

Whew! Blood Hunter barely squeaked out the win in what had to be one of the closest competitions in Zuda's history. I'm really happy to have won but I feel horrible that there weren't at least 3 or 4 winners last month.

There were so many diverse submissions and I really enjoyed reading all of them. I think one of Zuda's greatest qualities is the fact that they are not looking for a particular style or genre, just quality work that's enjoyable to read. The community and readership is going to continue to grow and I can't wait to see what's instore for not only Zuda but for future competitors down the road.

I want to thank all of you that supported Blood Hunter last month, I definitely couldn't have won without the overwhelming amount of support I recieved from my friends, family, local comic stores, and all the amazing people I got the chance to meet on the campaign trail. Thank you all so much, I'm definitely getting the chance to live my dream because of you.
